Talk:NB Cell Network

This page needs to be brought to -current. OpenBTS is demonstrating some superb capabilities (full voice and SMS connectivity, it'd also be easy to add OpenBTS to the Asterisk server on Pony) but the far bigger problem is regulatory. Operating any kind of GSM equipment is legally touchy, although you can get a license to do it if you're a Ham. The alternative (and possibly only option given the location) would be to chicken-wire the walls, floor, and ceiling to restrict emissions outside the space. This is probably not practical, so if anyone wants to proceed I suggest you talk to a Ham Radio licensee about the legalities then David Stainton, Alon Levy, Jake Appelbaum, or Chris Paget about the technicalities of it all.
