If they are new, then they wouldn't have any reason to wonder why this statement might exist.

OTOH, gadlen, the most recent language using the terms "always welcome" is clearly more inviting and less cold to New Visitors. Although you yourself might disagree with this emphasis on attracting New Visitors to the Space, you might still want to more carefully review some of the Regular Members' proposals of this "more welcoming" matter on recent Discussion-list postings as well as in the last Meeting's minutes.

PS. A popular way to show discussion threading in Mediawiki is to add a ":" to the beginning of each line. That indents your text. Then the next response gets a "::", etc... It's not perfect, but that's what Wikipedia uses. Keep rocking. --gadlen (talk) 19:11, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

gadlen, It does seem from the Community Standards history tab, that User:Flamsmark just went ahead and unilaterally shut out 71.135.45.11x for her/his/their editing there. So while it is certainly Excellent to be able to actively participate in the Wiki editing process just like you and 71.135.45.11x here, there are doubts whether User:Flamsmark himself will likewise participate par excellence.

## Note from some of the recent Discussion-list postings by date that User:Flamsmark is likely taking the "Nuclear Option" in locking-out Wiki editing. Indeed, readers of this (including you gadlen) shouldn't ignore the recent Revision history tabs of both the Main Noisebridge Wiki and the Community_Standards wiki pages. And closely watch the Events Revision history tab to see when User:Flamsmark will "protect" that page too.
As House TV series' Lisa Cuddy says to the Hospital Board when they vote to kick her out in the Babies & Bathwater episode, "this may be the last decision you may ever have as Board Members".

Be forewarned, gadlen, you and other Wiki editors are definitely next!

That is an excellent question! The gist is that it's really good for visitors to know that they will have a better experience (not get kicked out etc..) if they have a sponsor when they are in the space. This is because of the new "members and their guests only policy". So I'm guessing that the instructions to new visitors should try to strike a balance between "Visitors Welcome!" and "Here's exactly how to be an approved guest!" and "Look how easy it is to be an approved guest!" or something like that. And that is what is being worked on now... and you are participating in that very process! --gadlen (talk) 19:28, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
