Rough Notes for 2011-11-15[edit]

  • long-term planning for next few months of soceng ====
  • talk about fixes for 311 ====
  • issue tracker for NB?
  • lead into Meeting: working groups for NB?
  • soundproofing the classrooms, but Liz feels like you could hang heavy curtains more easily than put up a wall

Mike thinks that there's a building inspector reason.

Shannon thinks windows would be better.

Put up sheetwall and bricks.

Advantage of ringvolts is flexibility.

You would need:

2x4 and stuff

build food

Shannon thinks the unfinished walls are a broken window.

People who might help:

  • Zedd
  • Jorgen
  • Shannon
  • Kaya

2x4 8' 2x4 special insulation sound baffle wall board a truck measure it all and come up with the plan get the wood friday -- home depot purchase saturday -- framing sunday -- sheet rocking in the free world! Run a fund

  • Andy suggests software tools that let a single post, saying i've mopped the floor, i fixed this... some kind of tool to let people post what they've been done and give karma points. big motivator is the approval of the group. recurring task could be done. it's okay to just do something. i'm learning ruby on rails.
    • someone says tips would be good
    • liz wants a physical instantiation
    • danny suggests a bugtracker
    • will mentions asana
    • shannon doesn't want to pay people
  • a door monitor to gather stats on visitors -- miloh, shannon, + mct -- jof's working on a c program to monitor how many buzzes, and (visitor's book)
  • actually getting the door to work
  • happy stats working -- danny's plan to suck in some automated NB metric to determine how happy everyone is
  • yes/no strips down the stairway -- mct and danny
  • tools for searching wiki/mailing lists (pulling in the mailing list, RSS feed)
  • improving signage at front of NB (partially done)
  • phone tree -- number you can call -- continue on socialengineering list (done -- the Noisebridge 311 number)
  • noiseatnight -- andy suggested night@noisebridge.net (done, though quiet)
  • talk to kelly about treasurer tasks (done, needs writing up)
  • cleaners (done - will running)

Last go round the space for the cleaners was last week. What is everybody's reactions? Hiring a cleaning service and clean the floors and do a general cleaning. Floor scrubbing and de-dusting, nothing to do the tables, no cleaning the garbage. Don't clean the kitchen, do clean the toilets.

    • Kaya says it's more important to teach people to be excellent.
    • Will feels that the first time was a big difference, but the other months were incremental.
    • Liz says that mopping used to be harder, and now the junk is cleared away, it's easier to mop.
  • fixing the touchscreens for info purposes

Stuff we've discussed previously[edit]

  • a door monitor to gather stats on visitors -- miloh, shannon, + mct

  • yes/no strips down the stairway -- mct and danny
  • tools for searching wiki/mailing list

  • phone tree -- number you can call -- continue on socialengineering list (done -- the Noisebridge 311 number)
