=Pamphlet= see [[Talk:Pamphlet]] for discussion. ===Files=== *[[:image:Noisebridgeflyer.pdf]] *[[:image:Noisebridgeflyer.jpg]] ==Body== ===Header=== "Logo" Noisebridge 83C Wiese Street San Francisco, CA 94103 https://noisebridge.net ===Content=== Noisebridge is a space for creation, collaboration, research, development, mentoring, teaching, sharing, and of course, learning. Noisebridge is also more than a physical space, it’s a community with worldwide roots. Noisebridge is also an educational non-profit California corporation, soon to be tax-exempt. ====What’s The Big Idea?==== We provide infrastructure and collaboration opportunities for people interested in programming, hardware hacking, physics, chemistry, mathematics, photography, security, robotics, all kinds of art, and, of course, technology. Through talks, workshops, and projects we encourage knowledge exchange, learning, and mentoring. As a space for artistic collaboration and experimentation, we are open to all types of art with a special emphasis on the crossover of art and technology. From hardware labs to electronics, cooking, photography, and sound labs, anything that’s creative is welcome. Interesting things are always happening at Noisebridge. Sharing is essential to making this work. Starting from a base of respect and trust, we have built a safe community to foster innovation and creation. Our code of conduct is “Be excellent to each other”. Leadership is taken by individual members for specific projects. We call this “sudo leadership” (a reference to Linux and Unix -- implying the empowerment we give all people to do tasks that are normally only allowed by those with authority). In other words, if you want Noisebridge to do something, start doing it. ====Who Is Financing It?==== We self-finance through membership fees ($80 per member/month with $40 “starving hacker” rate), beverage sales, and fundraising parties, the way European hacker spaces do it. We also accept and encourage donations from the general public and businesses. Donations and sponsorships enable renovation and equipment purchase. Within the first 24 hours of renting our space, we raised over $10,000 for a cool location and for meaningful projects. Within our first month, we’ve become cash flow positive from membership dues alone. Further discussion is happening on our Finances wiki page. ====Where Does The Inspiration Come From?==== Noisebridge is inspired by similar famous European clubs such as Metalab of Vienna, CBase of Berlin, MAMA of Zagreb, and ASCII of Amsterdam. Many other clubs of a similar stripe can be found at [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacklab Hacklabs] and [http://hackerspaces.org hackerspaces.org]. Some members consider Noisebridge a San Francisco [http://www.economy-point.org/c/chaostreff.html Chaostreff]. Noisebridge as a hacker space and community shares a [http://dorkbot.org Dorkbot]-like ethic, and indeed, many of the members of Noisebridge are long-time Dorkbotters. ====How Can I Enjoy Making My Life Better?==== There are many ways to make your life better with Noisebridge! Through community we can learn, share and teach, making our lives better, as well as the lives of those around us. There is almost always someone at Noisebridge socializing and/or working on projects -- please stop by our space and introduce yourself and people there about the projects they are working on. Everyone is welcome at our weekly Tuesday meetings. Feel free to join our emails lists to be informed of what is happening at Noisebridge. Please check out our website <Noisebridge.net> where you will find events and workshops over a large variety of topics that will intrigue and fascinate you. No matter what you know there is always more to learn. We also encourage you to share your knowledge of what you love by giving a workshop of your own at our space. If you like what you see and experience at Noisebridge, membership is open to everyone interested in what we do.
