I'm writting about the project "ColorTheWorld23", here is a quick presentation:

ColorTheWorld23 is an open source and collaborative project. The first part is a magical colored lamp: simply put a piece of paper and the lamp will adopt his color. The color you choose and your geographical coordinates are sent in the IoT. ColorTheWorld23's website shows a worldmap that is colored according to the lamps messages. The project relies on multiple technics available in the makerspaces: 3D printing, laser cutting, Arduino electronics and website development. The design will be available in open OpenSource and HardWare, but the lamps will also be available prefabricated. Everybody can join and participate coloring the world!

My main goal is to make cool things with arduino and share a message of poetry all over the world.

I have an idea to promote it at the early stage before the launch of a crowdfunding campaign. The goal is to have the seed of a community. I will make a small serie, let's say from 5 to 10 units of the electronics, and give it to few makerspaces around the world. In each of those makerspaces there should be someone that we can name "ambassador" of the project. His role will be to build his own box around the electronics and then help ColorTheWorld23 spreading the world. I think it would be fabulous to have an ambassador at Noisebridge

Please see below explainations about the project "ColorTheWorld":

The electronic system is very simple, it uses a color sensor, an arduino processor and an RGB Led Strip. In more, the Arduino can be connected on the IoT via WiFi There will be also a website with a worldmap. When someone uses his lamp, the chosen color and the geographical coordinates are sent to the IoT. Then the website's worldmap will be be colored by the users according to their lamp's active color.

Of course the project will be open source & open HW. I have the dream to setup a crowdfunding on Indigegogo for it. The backers will have the following choices:

  • free acces to the schematics and PCB plans (they can make a donation)
  • pre-order of the electronics only, have to make their own mechanical design (hope they will share it)
  • pre-order of a kit including electronics and mechanical parts to be assembled
  • pre-order of complete lamp already assembled (may be two or three variants)

I already showed the project and prototypes during events, and the positive feedback of the public definitly conviced me to go further.
